Borgo Stoppi, situated at 600 m a.s.l. at the foot of the Castello Poggio alla Regina, was a property of the counts Guidi since the 11th Century and after some changes of owners, in the 14th Century it became the main centre of the medieval district named "Curia del Castiglione" and agricultural capital of the surrounding mountain area, with its own town hall and big weekly market. Today, the old houses of the hamlet have been restored to 8 units, enhancing in a superb manner the beauty this affascinating place has maintained during the centuries: cypress, oak, pine and chestnuts trees are silent testimonies of Nature and wild boars, hares, squirrels, phaesants and owls may be watched in the surroundings.
