Frutigen is centrally located in a beautiful area. Open space in the unspoilt countryside combined with attractive excursions make Frutigen the ideal holiday destination for young and old alike. There are simply hundreds of things for you and
your family to do here, and the infrastructure for sport, days out and for relaxation is second to none. Well-run restaurants and tea rooms also cater for your hunger and thirst. In this way, you can combine rest and activity exactly according to your needs. Specialist shops and chain stores ensure excellent shopping possibilities. A modern and fully equipped regional hospital with an integrated and professional rescue service, ample doctors and two dentists provide excellent health care for the local area. Special: the new built “Tropenhaus” is a very interesting project, worth a visit!
Hiking
Numerous and well-signposted hiking and mountain trails (160km in total) link valleys with summits. Short or longer walks and mountain tours let you discover mountain lakes, forests, brooks, Alpine landscapes and gorges. Walkers' Passes are available for mountain transport systems. Something special: Walking trail to the longest rope bridge in Europe and a UNO themed sports trail (hikers or Nordic walkers).
Sport
Frutigen Sports Centre with its new indoor pool, open-air pool with beach volleyball court, fitness and wellness centre and crazy golf arena offers a wealth of sporting activity. In addition you can go fishing, horse riding, cycling, paragliding, river rafting and much more besides.
Wintersports
Frutigen's ski area, Elsigen-Metsch, can be easily reached by ski bus or private car, with Elsigenalp linked by modern cable car. The entire ski area is served by seven large and two small lifts with a capacity to carry 7,000 people per hour. On the 25km of prepared pistes, beginners and advanced skiers will find the best slopes for their level of expertise. Furthermore, there are marked winter hiking trails and signposted snowshoe routes available. At the ski school, alpine, carving and snowboarding is taught. Two ski instructors specialize in tuition for blind skiers. Four excellently- run mountain restaurants ensure guests are properly refreshed and nourished. Frutigen is linked to the well-known ski region of Adelboden-Lenk. Guests can choose: the value-for-money ski pass for Elsigen-Metsch Frutigen or the combined ski pass for the entire region with its 50 mountain transport facilities.
